Podcast #1

The script in which I created was based on the lesson plan in which I will teach to my 1st grade students based on a Social Studies Unit.

Podcast Script

*The readings came from the 1st grade Social Studies Manual/ Unit 2

I created my Podcast using Audicity. I then uploaded it to Podbean.

This was a very easy process, I did have trouble with the audio files, so I just used my mic and cut and pasted.

The overall project was fun, however I became very stressed with podbean because it was so slow and it would not load the correct pages that I needed when I needed.

I did like this project well enough to want to incorporate it in my classroom using ISTE NETS T Standards #1 and #2. Since I am a 1st grade teacher now, I thought this would be a great way to record students reading their weekly story, so not only I can see and improvement in their reading skills and abilities, but the students can as well. I will get to use this soon I hope, and will let everyone know the results I recieve from my students and their activity sheets.

Podcast #2

Here is the lesson plan I created. This is actually the lesson plan that I used today in my classroom.

Lesson Plan

I also created an activity sheet for the students to fill out on the program since this is the first time they will see it and use it. I will go over the sheet with them prior to the use, but since they are only in 1st grade, I made it rather simple.

Activity Sheet

The assessment I chose to use is a rubric. However, I chose to just base it on the actually reading of the story because this is the students' first time using the voice maker to create a podcast. I do not think it would be practical to grade/assess them on the application until they are totally familiar with it and are able to use it on their own. Therefore, my rubric deals with the aspects in which the students use their voice to read the story orally.

Assessment/Rubric

ISTE NETS T Standard #1 could be incorporated with this assignment due to the fact that I created a rubric to use.

Assessment Form

To start, this was so hard for me to understand and I am really not sure why. I had trouble locating this form in Google to begin with. Oh well, I finally figured it out and decided to make a quiz for my students on their Solar System chapter. This is a great application and I will definitely be using it in my classroom. I think that my new 1st graders will be able to use this as well. This is a wonderful program and so easy to use once you figure it out!

I created my form in:
Google Docs Templates

My Assessment:
Solar System Quiz

Although, I plan on using this in my classroom, I really do not see a need in teaching this young of students how to make an assessment. If I were to have an older grade level I would consider this because they could create assessments to practice for tests. This would be considered using ISTE NETS T Standard #1 and the students would be learning how to integrate their studies and evaluate their answers without even realizing it! :)

Rubric

I created a rubric for my everyday use, if I choose to use it. This rubric can be used with each of my students in my 1st grade classroom. I can use it to assess our time during Reading. I thought this would be a good idea since we now have 90 minutes of uninterrupted teaching. Maybe this will help keep the kids focused for that long period of time.

I created my rubric using:

Rubistar

This is a great program and I do believe anyone could use it. I have used this site many times for assessments in Undergrad school. It was definitely a hit for student teaching and the huge unit we had to create. I give it 4 stars!!! :)

I also want to include that I could have my students easily create their own rubrics to evaluate each others papers for writing or for the reading program we use. This reading program has the students read their story and it records their voice. Having a rubric could help the students improve their fluency. This could be adapted by using ISTE NETS T Standard #1.

Movie Maker/Moving Pictures

This was an interesting assignment. I looked forever to download the Windows Movie Maker program, only for a friend to tell me it was already on my computer! Ha! I created a movie based on my Powerpoint project dealing with the Solar System. I plan to show it to my class, just to show them what they can do with movies.

I really don't think, since my students are so young, that they could actually do this assignment on their own. I thought that maybe as a class, we could create a movie together that we could save and show their parents and or other students in their grade level. This would be a great way to incorporate all standards and objects such as: reading, science, social studies, and ISTE NETS T Standards #1 and #2! They will be able to evaluate all information and through communication provide a tool that will provide information from what they have learned and created.

Presentation Games

This was quite a fun assignment. I had fun playing around and coming up with questions that corresponded to the study guide PowerPoint I made for the Solar System. I had a little trouble with the actions and get frustrated, but when I left the computer for dinner and came back I was able to figure it all out! Therefore, I decided to make a Solar System Jeopardy game. I think my students would really enjoy it.

Here is the link:

Solar System Jeopardy

When I was in 10Th and 11Th grade, my teacher used this application to help us review for tests the day before. It was actually very helpful and I believe I will use it in my own classroom as well! :) This will be a fun way for students to not only learn, but will be a great way to review for their reading, vocabulary, and spelling tests. I may also use this to incorporate math and the ISTE NETS T Standards #1 and #2 so that I am able to cover all of this this semester! :)

Pecha Kucha

Wow, to be honest I was totally lost on this assignment to begin with. Then after I started I still wasn't sure if I was on the right track on not. But anyhow, I decided to make a PowerPoint presentation that I could easily inform people/teachers on incentives. They are wonderful. I have began using them this year in my 1st grade class to help with my students' behaviors and focus. I have started my action research using this as one of my methods of action and have gotten positive results for my data. I really love this strategy and think many others should use it as well.

This is definitely a great project to learn because it was fast and easily accessible. It would help all teachers because they would be able to incorporate ISTE NETS T Standards #1 and #2 and still be able to provide the students that missed with these standards as well. I could definitely give the presentation then save it and anyone could view it that missed it or wanted to review it. I just hope I ended up doing it correctly using slideshare.

The site I used to upload my presentation was Slideshare
